AImageChecker is a free, browser-based tool that estimates whether a photo or picture was created or heavily shaped by a generative AI model. It was built for the everyday version of that question: an image appears in a chat, a listing, a portfolio, or a feed, and you need a fast, honest first read before you trust it, share it, or pay for it.
What the tool does
You upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP file (up to 10 MB) and receive an AI likelihood score from 0-100 with short notes on the signals behind it. When confidence allows, the result also names the most likely generator family. Standard checks are free, require no account, and are limited to one per visitor per day so the free tier stays available.
How detection works
The check is produced by Sightengine, an established image-analysis provider, and read through our own interface. The analysis looks at structural and statistical properties of the file rather than matching it against a known copy: texture regularity, noise behavior, edge consistency, and other cues that generative pipelines tend to leave behind. This is why the tool can flag a synthetic image that has never been published anywhere.
What we tell users, even when it is inconvenient
Detection is probabilistic triage, not proof. Independent testing has found false-positive rates above 13% across leading detectors, human judges only reach about 62% accuracy, and current commercial generators defeat most detectors on fresh output. Every page on this site repeats the same conclusion: combine the score with provenance checks and human review, and never treat a number as a verdict.
How the site handles your images
Uploads are processed to return a result and are not published in a gallery or sold as a training dataset. Rate limiting uses a first-party cookie and a short-lived in-memory marker keyed to your IP address. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Why the site is free
A verification tool is only useful if it is available at the moment of doubt, which is usually not a moment when someone wants to create an account or pay. The free tier is the product. If that changes, the pricing file and this page will say so first.
